Home displays one landscape photograph in a frame beside the family title. The frame is 15% larger on desktop and tablet layouts and fits the page width on phones. The frame background is transparent, so smaller pictures have no colored card around them. Before a photo is shown, the browser checks its decoded natural width and height, including embedded EXIF orientation, then applies any rotation saved in the website. Only photos wider than they are tall after that correction are accepted, and accepted photos display with the saved rotation. Dimensions cannot identify a sideways portrait whose embedded orientation and saved rotation are both incorrect; correct that photo using the album viewer rotation buttons and reload Home. Portrait and square photos are skipped and remembered for the current visit so they are not checked again on the next cycle. It is public, including for visitors who are signed out. Only photographs currently present in website albums are eligible, including both Vacation and Annual albums. Photos removed by the administrator and albums being deleted are excluded. Photos stored only on the NAS are not included. The complete eligible photo list is loaded in pages and then shuffled together across all albums and folders; no photo repeats during a viewing cycle until the collection has been considered. The same NAS photo imported into multiple albums is included once. A new visit starts a new shuffle. The display changes every three seconds when the next photo is ready; slow connections keep the current photo visible while loading. Videos and formats browsers cannot display are skipped. Imported JPEG copies of HEIC photographs are eligible; this display does not create conversions. Existing album thumbnails are used when available; otherwise the album photo loads from its existing NAS or website storage. A removed photo is checked again at display time. Album access restrictions remain in effect when opening albums.
AccessView the read-only mirror
The mirror is https://mirror.pedrazafamilyarchives.com. The previous workers.dev address remains available as an alternate address. If it shows a preparation or synchronization message, use pedrazafamilyarchives.com. When its album list is available, sign in with your existing Archives account; approval is still required to open album contents. A banner identifies the read-only mirror and links to the primary site for changes. Updates normally arrive through minute-by-minute synchronization. Visiting the mirror also refreshes records when the last check is over a minute old. NAS originals remain on the NAS. Album covers and website media are cached on first use; the first display can take longer while copying. An uncached website upload still needs the primary service to be available. If a cover stays blank after reloading, report the album name to the administrator.
AlbumsView all album pictures chronologically
Album photo previews have transparent backgrounds, so any space around a picture shows the page background instead of a green card. Inside an album, select View all pictures to combine photos from every folder and contributor. Pictures are sorted by Date taken, oldest first, using prepared timeline dates and album-year fallbacks. Pictures without a known date appear last. The collection loads progressively; use Load more or Next to browse large albums. Viewer arrows follow the same chronological order. Select Back to folders and contributors to restore the normal album layout. Your access and removed-picture preferences still apply.
Getting startedYour guide to the archive
Home has Vacation Albums and Annual Albums. Select an album cover to open it. People finds pictures by tagged person. Timeline groups photos and videos by year. About contains site information and versions. Help explains the controls and workflows.
Getting startedRegistration, email verification and approval
Visitors see album names, descriptions and cover photos. Sign up through the account control in the header, follow the verification email link, and wait for administrator approval. Registration and email verification do not themselves grant access. Sign in with the email and password used at registration. Check spam for missing verification mail and contact the administrator if it never arrives.
Getting startedAccess levels
Visitors see public covers. Approved members can view all album contents, People and Timeline, arrange pictures in their own album view and remove pictures from their own view. Administrators manage shared content and approve access. Naming an account Administrator does not grant that role.
Browsing albumsContributors
Buttons below an album description select a photographer’s contribution. Select the active contributor again to return to all contributions. Contributor filtering combines with the filename, Show and Section filters. Contributions and folder sections are separate ways of organizing the album.
Browsing albumsFolders and Main album
Expand a folder heading to see its pictures. Main album contains items with no folder assignment; it is not a combined view of all subfolders. Select Main album in the Section filter for root items only. All sections includes root items and folder contents. No Main album group may appear if no root items exist.
Browsing albumsSearch, filters and paging
Search filenames in the search field. Show filters all media, photos, videos or geotagged items. Section selects a folder or Main album. Reset clears filters and contributor selection. Large collections load in pages: expand a folder and use Load more photos or its page controls. Not every original downloads when the album opens.
Browsing albumsPersonal ordering and removal
Drag picture previews to arrange your album view. Approved members’ ordering is personal. Remove from my album appears in the viewer and hides the picture only for you. Restore removed pictures restores your removed items for that album. Administrator removal affects everyone and only the administrator can restore it. Approved members cannot reorder album tiles.
Picture viewerOpening, navigation and maximizing
Select a preview to open the viewer in a separate window. Allow pop-ups for this website if it does not open. Navigate using the left and right arrows or photo strip. Maximize expands the viewer. Close its window to return to the page. Home, People and Timeline use the shared viewer with controls appropriate to your access and the context.
Picture viewerDetails, captions and the photo strip
Show photo strip and tagged people reveals the lower controls; switch it off to hide them. The People viewer remembers your choice until you change it. Portrait pictures show date and filename on separate lines in a transparent upper-left overlay. Landscape pictures show them near the bottom with Geotag. Full captions display when available; the two lines under an album preview are only a shortened display.
Picture viewerDate taken and filename
Date taken uses available capture-date information and displays a three-letter month, day and four-digit year. Some digitized photos have no embedded capture date. Timeline can infer a year from a leading year in the album title, but that does not write a capture date into the original. Filename identifies the underlying file even when the caption is different.
PeopleBrowse a person’s pictures
Select a person on People to see pictures tagged with that identity. Use Previous and Next to page through their profile, or Show All to load the remainder. Select a picture to open it. Shared person names identify existing tags; renaming an identity changes its tag labels.
TimelinePhotos and Videos modes
Timeline separates Photos and Videos on the same page. Choose a year to expand months with available media, then browse a group. Video previews use saved still images when available. Viewing a thumbnail and playing the original video are separate operations.
TimelineHow dates are assigned
Photos use embedded capture metadata and videos use recording metadata supported by the reader. Without a usable date, a leading four-digit year in an album title such as 1999 Summer Vacation provides a year-only fallback. This does not establish a month or day. Newly imported items enter date preparation; existing media may need the preparation workflow.
Storage and privacyOriginals, previews and access
Sites uploads live in website media storage. NAS imports reference NAS originals through authenticated media access. Generated photo/video previews are separate cached assets, not replacements. A cached preview may remain visible when its original is unavailable. The NAS media service and QNAP administration are separate: never share NAS administration links as photo links.
